Jotunheimen National Park is characterized by high mountains, glaciers and deep lakes. There are more than 200 mountain peaks rising above 2000 m (6560 ft) in Jotunheimen, the three highest being Galdhøpiggen, Glittertind and Store Skagastølstind.

The most alpine landscape is found in the western part of the national park, in the Luster and Årdal area. If you drive the scenic national tourist route over the Sognefjell Mountains between Luster and Lom, you will see Store Skagastølstind and many other impressive peaks at close range.

Jotunheimen is one of Norway’s most popular hiking areas, and the amazing Hurrungane range, which includes the Store Skagastølstind peak, is a paradise for mountaineers.
