Visitor centres and museums
The Sognefjord has several activity centres and museums that are quite unique of their kind in Norway. Most of them are closely linked to the very special natural environment of the Sognefjord and will thus increase your understanding and enjoyment of our landscape.

Highlights

The Norwegian Glacier Museum is an award-winning interactive museum, situated in Fjærland at the head of the Fjærlandsfjord. Here you can learn about snow, ice and glaciers, perform your own experiments and see Ivo Caprino’s film about the Jostedal Glacier.

Breheimsenteret is an information centre for the Jostedal Glacier National Park, where you can journey 20,000 years back in time and learn about the glacier that has formed both the landscape and the way of life.

At the Norwegian Wild Salmon Centre you can find out all there is to know about salmon and the traditions associated with salmon fishing. There is also a fly-tying workshop and a salmon observatory.

Through exhibits, an open-air museum and a traditional farm with live animals, Sogn Folkemuseum shows us how life has been lived along the Sognefjord.

Sognefjord Aquarium is a marine activity centre, where you can study more than a hundred different species of fish from the Sognefjord.

The Norwegian Book Town consists of 12 second-hand bookshops of various sizes. Old barns and boathouses are used as sales outlets, making the book town a very special experience.
